Tarsis

Tarsis, also called the City of Silver, is the most cosmopolitan of the Garreth Grandfather Cities. It sits on three major trade routes: the mouth of the Raven River, so all riverine traffic bound for or from distant shores must pass through; it is the southern terminus of the Great Northern Way; and it is a great sea port in its own right, with maritime trade through Merchant's Run and Privateer's Run to other major ports.

For centuries, Tarsis has been the capital of the small kaddar ("kingdom," in Ilreth) of Orren. After the Siege of a Thousand Days humbled Harreth, Orren surrendered to become a vassal state of the Sindathi Empire. It is the only Garreth state with an ocean-going navy, which has been a boon to ships braving Privateer's Run and Merchant's Run.
